ChristophorusHaus - MIVA

Since 2003 the climate protection program "ChristophorusHaus" exists. It provides more energy than it uses, and in total it need only a seventh part of an average building this size.

The Christophorus House was built in 2003 and is the workplace of the MIVA (Mission, Transport and Work Community).

The house does not have a heating stove at all. The earth's temperature cools the house in summer and warms it in winter!

The Christophorus House is a meeting place - the art of engineering meets ecological awareness. It is not only an office building, event space and logistics centre, but also a powerful impulse for environmentally conscious building.

MIVA is an aid organisation of the Catholic Church with the task of financing vehicles for young churches and development cooperation projects: cars or off-road vehicles, motorbikes, bicycles, tractors, agricultural equipment, sometimes also boats or small ships, aircraft or beasts of burden. Founded in 1949, it is one of the oldest relief organisations in Austria. Every year, between 300 and 400 vehicle projects are realised in about 60 countries around the world.
