The 100 hectare Almauen nature reserve is located on the lower reaches of the Alm and includes numerous and diverse habitats for plants and animals. In addition to the hardwood stands, a special feature are the sometimes very large gravel areas on the banks of the alpine pasture, which always invite children and adults to linger. The MOOR - what exactly is bog? One differentiates close to their deposit in raised bogs and low or flat bogs. The "Flachmoor cake", like the Neydhartinger Moor, is created by stacking plant residues that do not rot completely, because the living organisms are inhibited in their vitality under the very wet conditions and lack of air. The healing and therapeutic effects of bog were recognized as early as 1364. The nature reserve of the "Almauen" and the moor protection area are of considerable size and are ideal for hiking and discovery. The range of well-signposted hiking trails includes shorter routes that are easy for wheelchair users and parents with small children to master, as well as more demanding routes for athletes and nature lovers.
