The Association Kleinwasserkraft Österreich and the Tourist Office Traunsee-Almtal invite you on Saturday, June 15, 2019 for a walk on the enjoyment of the Alm river on the river path on the "Day of Small Hydroelectricity" with a visit to four power plants at the Alm.
Power plants from all over Austria open their doors and allow you a unique look behind the scenes of clean power generation. At the same time, numerous suppliers open their doors and offer the chance to dive deeper into sustainable energy production. Experience an exciting journey into the world of hydropower. During numerous guided tours and talks with the power plant operators you will learn all you need to know about the renewable energy source of small hydropower.Contest: Get the Hydropower Day - enjoy the Almfluss winpass and visit all four power plants and take part in the competition. Great prices from the weekend with an electric car (provided by the Autohaus Schweiger), as well as a year free electricity (pure energy supply, provided by the participating power plant operators) for a budget will be raffled. Likewise on the occasion of the day of the small hydropower single ÖBB tickets as well as from the tourism association Traunsee Almtal "Schmecktakuläres Almtal enjoyment licenses" are provided as profit prizes. The stamps can be handed in at the four power stations and at the tourist office Almtal (mailbox in the foyer)!
Here in the Almtal valley, you can combine this with a leisurely hike along the "Almuferweg - Genuss am Almfluss" and visit the following power stations on the way:
Kraftwerk Redlmühle - "Technology & Ecology in the River"
Ecologist Sepp Hemetsberger and Bernhard Drack provide visitors with interesting data and information from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Redlmühle power plant.
Location for accessing the Almtalbahn railway: On the "Almuferweg" path between the station Grünau im Almtal and the stop Kothmühle
Refreshments: D'Einkehr - the tavern on the alm river, Forellenhof Wieselmühl, Romantikhotel Almtalhof (Please note the opening or kitchen times)
Kraftwerk Geyerhammer - "Hydropower of yore and now!"
Together with the Museum Geyerhammer and the company Danner Wasserkraft, the visitors are advised and can inform themselves about the history of the use of hydropower.
Location for accessing the Almtalbahn railway: at the Scharnstein train station and then via the Hofmühlsteg to the Geyerhammermusem & Kraftwerk
Refreshments: Almcamping Schatzmühle (about 1.5 km) along the Almuferweg in the direction of Pettenbach
Power plant Ranklleiten - "100% Almstrom"
Location for accessing the Almtalbahn railway: at the stop Steinbach-Brücke, turn left in a northerly direction, straight to the hking path "ALmuferweg".
Refreshments: Bierhotel Ranklleiten (about 500 meters)
Power Station Kronawettwehr - "Energy to touch"
Extensive supporting program:

Location for accessing the Almtalbahn railway: at the Steinbach-Brücke station, turn left towards the north, then follow the Almuferweg enjoyment on the Almfluss or from the Pettenbach train station to the Pettenbacherrunde (also cycle path Almtal Camprunde) in the direction of Pfaffing, left the hiking and cycle path Mostrunde down the hill, left in the street Unterwöhr to the power plant, directly on the Almuferweg enjoyment on the Almfluss.
Refreshments: Culinary supply directly at the power plant, Bierhotel Ranklleiten (about 4.5 KM the Almuferweg south following)
Arrival tip: Take the "Einfach Raus Ticket" of ÖBB
Take the Almtalbahn to Grünau in Almtal and hike along the Almuferweg Genuss am Almfluss past the power plants Redlmühle, Geyerhammer, Ranklleiten and Kronawettwehr or vice versa to Pettenbach or Steinbach-Brücke.
