Why "Liachtbratl" Monday? Once masters forbade their journeymen and apprentices to use artificial light (candles, oil lamps). And so long into autumn until dawn broke in so early that it just couldn't be any other way. Artificial light was used again on Liachtbratl Monday. Since then, liachtbratl has been celebrated on the first Monday after September 29th. The Liachtbratl was once a simple roast that the master gave his staff as a thank you for saving light.
