In the summer from May 1st to September 15th there is the possibility to go by bike or car to the Almtalerhaus. Nature Reserve Around the ÖdseenA hiking trail leads past the Ödseen lakes, first reaching the Kleiner Ödsee and then the Großer Ödsee. Crystal-clear water and stunning natural landscapes guarantee a wonderful outing that includes a nature experience for the whole family. A detour to the Herrentisch (about 40 min) is also worth taking. From there, you can look down on the Ödseen and enjoy a magnificent view of the Schermberg in the Totes Gebirge. Coming from the village of Grünau in the Almtal, turn southeast in Habernau into the “Hetzau,” a charming valley that stretches all the way to the base of the rocky cliffs of Schermberg and Großer Priel. The Straneggbach stream flows through it—a shallow, whitewater stream whose gravel banks are a popular recreational area for young and old alike in midsummer. After about four kilometers on a narrow, winding road, you’ll reach the parking area for visiting the lakes. The [large Ödsee is ](https://traunsee-almtal.salzkammergut.at/oesterreich-poi/detail/430025544/grosser-oedsee.html)located at 695 m above sea level; it is about 500 m long and 27 m deep. The [small Ödsee lies ](https://traunsee-almtal.salzkammergut.at/oesterreich-poi/detail/430025917/kleiner-oedsee.html)slightly lower; it is 300 m long and 17 m deep. Please park only in the designated areas and do not block the entrances to forest roads, as forestry work and timber transport take place here! Hetzaustraße is not passable year-round.
