Welcome to Roithhof – Farm Holidays in the Almtal Valley
Welcome to our family-run organic mountain farm in Scharnstein, Upper Austria! Situated at around 600 metres above sea level, Roithhof is surrounded by meadows and forests in a peaceful setting.
Accommodation & Breakfast
We offer cosy rooms with breakfast and self-catering holiday apartments. Our breakfast has been awarded the Silver Breakfast distinction by Urlaub am Bauernhof, with at least 60% of breakfast products being organic. We serve breakfast from 7:30 to 9:00 am, featuring farm products and regional specialities.
Traditional home-style dinners are available on request for guests staying in our rooms only. Dinner is served at 6:00 pm. Meals are not available for guests staying in the holiday apartments.
Farm Life & Family Fun
Sheep, cows, chickens, ducks, ponies and cats are part of everyday life on our farm. Children can watch the animals and, when farm work allows, lend a hand. Pony rides are available by prior arrangement. A playground, go-karts and a sunny terrace with deckchairs and a swing invite you to relax and enjoy your stay.
Activities All Year Round
Explore the Almtal Valley on hiking and cycling trails, including the Traunviertel cycling route and the Way of Mindfulness. In winter, depending on snow conditions, enjoy tobogganing, cross-country skiing or skiing at the nearby Kasberg ski resort.
The Cumberland Wildlife Park and the beautiful Almsee lake are also worth a visit.

How to find us
By car: From Regau, follow signs to Gmunden–Scharnstein. Or take the Pyhrn motorway exit Ried im Traunkreis and drive via Voitsdorf and Pettenbach to Scharnstein. Continue towards Mühldorf, then after approx. 2 km towards Grünau, turn right and follow the signs.
By train: From Wels towards Grünau, get off at the penultimate stop, Traxenbichl. Pick-up by arrangement (approx. 2 km uphill).
Arrival: 3–7 pm
Departure: by 10 am; leave rooms and apartments clean and swept.
