We are the educational hub for rural areas and a partner organisation of the Attersee–Traunsee Nature Park

Delicatessen and school – at the Salzkammergut Agricultural Education Centre in Altmünster, the philosophy of healthy, seasonal and regional food has really come into its own. On 29 March 2012, the school’s own gourmet shop opened under the patronage of LAbg. Michaela Langer-Weninger. She is chairwoman of the association ‘Co-operation of Farm-Direct Sellers in the Gmunden and Vöcklabruck Districts’.

In practical lessons, regional raw produce is transformed, through various processing stages, into a treat for both the palate and the eye. The young people have fully grasped how to present and sell these high-quality products in the gourmet shop with enthusiasm and spot-on marketing. It is important to note that the Salzkammergut Agricultural Education Centre will in future offer the ideal training programme for direct marketers, as they are the guarantors of regional and seasonal produce in our region. In future, the shop will offer beautiful and decorative items alongside delicacies and savoury treats. The ABZ is a partner organisation of the Attersee–Traunsee Nature Park.

Collaborations with local farmers who offer support provide important learning opportunities and practical experience for the young people. There can only be cooperation and mutual support. Competition brings no progress and does not reflect well on an agricultural entrepreneur. Those who cooperate gain in quality of life and stature, and this is what our young people will need in the future. Passionate farmers, who are driven by their work, are the guarantors of our food supply; for only they – if they take joy in farming – will continue to practise it. At the ABZ Salzkammergut, this passion is nurtured, passed on and lived out.

Furthermore, from November to June, there is a school café where you can enjoy lovingly prepared regional and seasonal delicacies, pastries and cakes. Newly introduced products from our farmers are also showcased in the café (farmers’ ice cream, herbal tea, etc.).

As a nature park school, we can fulfil a variety of culinary and craft-related requests using products from the nature park.

We also offer a range of craft courses – woodturning, woodworking, distilling schnapps, ‘Get fit for the Salzkammergut festivities’, cheese-making courses, cider tasting, creative projects using natural materials, and more.
