As legend has it, the Roman-Catholic Church is said to have originally been located on a hill amidst the mountains.
After the Hungarian Invasions, the Church you see today was rebuilt in Gothic style on its present site. In the year 1507 it was consecrated by Bernhard, Suffragan Bishop of Passau. Martin Resch, who was the parish priest of Vorchdorf from 1668 until 1704 and later on Abbot of Kremsmünster Abbey, began to remodel the Church in Baroque style. These `renovation´ works went on till the second half of the 18th century. These days, the Church was visited by large numbers of people who were attracted to it by the fame of the "Blessed Virgin Mary´s" place of pilgrimage.
