The protection of nature and the environment as well as the safeguarding of social demands and interests are of equal importance to the achievement of economic success
Like no other company, the Federal Forests bears responsibility for Austria's natural landscape. With the care and management of 10% of the country's territory, ÖBf AG is the largest natural area manager and supervisor, the largest forestry company, and the largest owner of hunting and fishing waters.
Sustainability is the overriding principle of the Federal Forests and is also enshrined in its mission statement. Originating from forestry, this means taking only as much raw material from nature as is continuously produced. Further developed and placed in a global context, it means that the protection of nature, the needs of society, and economic success are all equally considered.
The various pillars, such as forestry, real estate, services, and renewable energy, form the foundation for an entrepreneurial endeavor that constantly strives to balance three areas of tension: ecological goals, social interests, and economic awareness must be constantly reassessed in their relationship to one another – this is the entrepreneurial challenge of the Austrian Federal Forests AG.
