The longing for fundamental experiences with nature, sustainable
recreation and relaxation slumbers within us.
WALDNESS® (Forest bathing) lets you immerge in the
cleansing atmosphere of the forest. You will consciously
smell and enjoy the aroma of the forest and feel the healing
effect of trees and forest plants and learn to understand
the connection between nature and people.
WALDNESS® (Forest bathing) is retreat, recreation
and refueling of energy amidst gigantic trees, turquoise
rivers and lakes, high mountains and fragrant flower
meadows and it is the chance to find your own healthy
rhythm and to live.
Forest bathing or 森林浴 Shinrin-yoku in Japanese, is
generally translated as the breathing in of forest’s healthy
atmosphere while taking a walk, has been part of a healthy
life style in Japan for more than 20 years.
Dwelling in the forest has a positive effect on many levels
of our health: the immune system is strengthened, stress
hormones are reduced and the quality of sleep is being
improved.
WALDNESS® (Forest bathing) implements
current Austrian and International studies of the healing
effect of forests with experts and show you many ways to
best use the forest atmosphere for you and your health.
And if you want to borrow a weather patch, which is very practical for your stay in the forest, we have WALDNESS weather patches for you to borrow.

Individual arrival and check-in at the hotel of your choice.
14:30: Welcome at Gasthaus Schobermühle in Scharnstein (navigation address In der Au 1, 4644 Scharnstein) Arrival also possible by bus (bus route 533, bus stop Scharnstein Au).
Followed by a walk in the forest and Wyda along the Trambachwirteweg up to the "Wolmleithen" with WALDNESS Coach Kerstin Diensthuber
Afterwards, there is the option of having dinner at the Schobermühle inn or shopping at the Wallner family's "Bergbauernladen".
Saturday, 03.01.2026
9:00 to approx. 12:00: Snowshoe hike with forest bathing, yodeling and summit meeting on the Kasberg with WALDNESS coach Sabina Haslinger.
Meeting point at the valley station of the Kasberg ski area
After your return, you have the option of having lunch at the "Forellenhof Wieselmühle" restaurant, a partner business of Schmecktakuläres Almtal. Table reservations recommended
Afternoon: individual arrangements | e.g. visit to the Cumberland Wildlife Park in Grünau im Almtal (admission with voucher).

09:00 to 12:00: Natural spectacle in the Almtal forest school
The Wolf family explains the forest and how it affects us.
Meeting point: Wolf company parking lot
Afternoon: individual arrangement | e.g. a visit to the Viechtwanger Krippe or a hike along the Almuferweg.
Monday, 05.01.2026
Morning: individual arrangement, e.g. a visit to the Green Earth World in Pettenbach or a hike along the Almuferweg. Both can be done with the Almtalbahn.
In the evening at approx. 18:00 there is the possibility of visiting the Glöcklerlauf in Scharnstein, town center
Afterwards individual departure or extra night
Changes to the program are possible due to weather conditions!

With WALDNESS packages, half a day is used for the WALDNESS program and the other half of the day is free to visit the Cumberland Wildlife Park and the Green Earth World, for example.

Almtal are protected under the following conditions:
The deposit occurs less than eleven months before the end of the trip and is
20 percent of the travel price. The balance will be paid earlier than 20 days
prior to travel – step by step against surrender of the travel documents to the
traveller. Any additional or early prepayments or residual payments may not
be required. Payments or residual payments are protected only to the extent
in which the tour operator is entitled to their receipt. Hedging sum shall be
used primarily to satisfy regulations of accepted payments.
