FAQs Culinary
What is the difference between Steckerlfisch and Stanglfisch?
With us at the Traunsee there is the original Stanglfisch with the Riedling, to it is never said Steckerlfisch! The Riedling belongs to the genus of the Riedlinge and can only be found in the Traunsee and is a delicacy. Unfortunately, only a few more fry the Riedling and many have already switched to the normal Steckerlfisch (remaining fish genera), because the Riedling is rare. Never say Steckerlfisch to the Riedling and one is this not with cutlery but bites off ;)
What is a Reinanke?
It is an edible fish that is fried in almost every restaurant in our country.
What is an Zwieballen?
Zwieballen is a very regional product. It is a double cookie that is intentionally a little heavier than the standard size. It is made of acidified rye flour, wheat flour, caraway seeds and the usual baking ingredients. The crust is cut lengthwise before baking and sprinkled with salt. Perfect for a snack. With bacon and cheese a delight!
What do you mean by Kesslhoaß'n?
Kesslhoaß'n is a true delicacy in the region. It is the Kesselheiße, which is served every Thursday from eight o'clock in the inn or at the butcher's shop. The delicacy is traditionally eaten with mustard, horseradish and a bread.
