church in Scharnstein
Scharnstein, Oberösterreich, Österreich
The church of the holy abbott Berthold
Due to the steady population immigration to Scharnstein because of the metal industry, the wish for a church in Scharnstein was expressed as early as 1912. A chaplaincy was founded in 1941, with services temporarily being held in the castle chapel.
The parish church was built between 1953 and 1956 according to plans by Hans Foschum. The artistic interior design as well as the altar come from the sculptor Sepp Moser from Neukirchen near Altmünster. The church was consecrated on October 7, 1956.
