The URC Grünau cycling club was founded in 2000.
Many cycling enthusiasts have joined the club since it was founded. The association currently has around 30 members. The club is a section of the Gymnastics and Sports Union Grünau and is called "Radclub der Union Grünau." In addition to the monthly club evening, the weekly Wednesday excursion is of course a fixed date for the club members. Other sporting activities such as ski touring, running, mountaineering, etc. are also actively pursued. Every year in September, the URC Grünau organizes the coveted Almsee individual time trial. In this race over 27.1km, the starting interval is one minute from Grünau Ort to the Almsee and back. With around 200 starters per year and a maximum average speed of around 50 km / h, this race is one of the top-class of the Upper Austrian individual time trial. With annual training camps in May in southern climes, club members who are enthusiastic about cycling prepare for the season's races. These races include the Ötztaler Radmarathon, 24h Grieskirchen, the Salzkammergut Trophy, the entire Alpine Cup (Amade Radmarathon, Mondsee Radmarathon and Eddy Mercks Radmarathon) and the Super Giro Dolomiti. This is only an excerpt from many successful participations. Please get in touch for more information.
