The Kleiner Ödsee, like its "big brother" just 150 metres away, lies in a side valley of the Almtal, the so-called "Hetzau". This natural jewel derives its extraordinary beauty from its impressive location on the northern slope of the Großer Priel.

The Kleine Ödsee is characterized by its steep, densely forested shoreline slopes. However, another distinctive feature of this body of water—which covers just under 3.3 hectares—is that it has no visible inflows or outflows. The Kleine Ödsee is actually fed by springs located beneath the surface at the bottom of the lake. The water also drains underground. Its water level fluctuates by up to one meter over the course of a year. The Kleine Ödsee is accessible via a hiking trail that continues on to the Großer Ödsee.

The Ödseen are a nature reserve and not a swimming lake!
