The Fauré Quartet celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2025. The ensemble from France is one of the leading piano quartets of the present day and is celebrated worldwide. The namesake Gabriel Fauré is at the center of the evening with his 1st piano quartet full of emotion and elegance. Gustav Mahler's only surviving work for chamber music, the wondrously youthful Quartettsatz, will precede it, followed by one of the masterpieces of the Romantic period.

Johannes Brahms loved the folk music of Hungary. Imitated cymbal sounds and languorous string melodies appear in his G minor quartet. It is impossible to resist the zest of the finale, modeled on the furious ending of a real czardas.
