St. Nicholas Day Rides on the ET 24.101 Nostalgic Train (built in 1931) on the Vorchdorferbahn

St. Nicholas rides on December 5 on the Vorchdorferbahn in the festively decorated vintage car ET 24.101 (built in 1931).

On December 4, the Vorchdorferbahn invites you to a very special ride: Hop aboard the festively decorated vintage car ET 24.101 (built in 1931) and join St. Nicholas on his journey between Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting and Lambach.

During the ride, St. Nicholas himself will make the children’s eyes light up—with small gifts and heartwarming Christmas stories.

Experience the Vorchdorferbahn in a whole new way—nostalgic, atmospheric, and full of Christmas magic.

Just hop on and ride along—no registration required!

Please note: Due to limited space in the vintage car, we unfortunately cannot accommodate strollers. The vehicle is not wheelchair accessible.

Here’s how to get to the St. Nicholas Ride on the Vorchdorferbahn vintage train to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting or Lambach in the Traunsee-Almtal region:

We recommend traveling by public transportation!

By train: Take the train from Lambach Station to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting Station.
There are numerous connections via the Attnang-Puchheim or Wels stations to the mainline trains on the Westbahn line (Line 101) or via Vorchdorf and Gmunden to the Salzkammergutbahn toward Bad Ischl, Hallstatt, and Bad Aussee.

From Gmunden via Vorchdorf on the Traunseetram (Line 161) and the Vorchdorferbahn (Line 160) from Stern & Hafferl to the Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting station.

By bus: OÖVV Bus Line 508 from Stadl-Paura to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting, Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting Markt stop

By car:
A1 West Highway: From Vienna or Salzburg—take the A1 exit for Vorchdorf—then continue to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting
To the train station and the P&R parking lots
From Gmunden on the B144 to Roitham, then take the state road to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting
or from Lambach on the B144 to Stadl-Paura, then also take the state road to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting to the P&R parking lot at the train station.

Parking:
We recommend using the P&R parking lots at the train station
