The International Academy of Traunkirchen invites you to a lecture on September 18, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the Klostersaal Traunkirchen “Lung Cancer—Early Detection to Counter Prevention Gaps” by Prof. Bernd Lamprecht, Director of the Department of Pulmonology at the Kepler University Hospital, Johannes Kepler University Linz.
With over 5,000 new cases per year, lung cancer is the second most common cancer among men after prostate cancer and the second most common cancer among women after breast cancer. The ominous combination of high incidence and late detection—which consequently limits treatment options—presents a significant dilemma.
In his presentation, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Bernd Lamprecht will highlight which risk factors, aside from cigarette smoking, play a significant role; which population groups are at particularly high risk of developing the disease; and which opportunities for early detection are currently not being utilized. In addition, he will discuss current treatment standards and the associated challenges for the healthcare system.
