St Nicholas rides with the GM 5 nostalgic art nouveau railcar

A nostalgic trip through the Christmas-decorated city of Gmunden on the GM 5 Art Nouveau railcar (built in 1911).
Saint Nicolas rides along, handing out presents and telling stories about the Christmas season.

Take the Art Nouveau railcar from the Gmunden railway station through the villa district to the Esplanade of the town of Gmunden, over the "Traunbrücke" bridge to the Seebahnhof railway station and back. On the route of what was once the world's smallest tram, but is still one of the steepest, you will travel through the beautiful Traunsee town of Gmunden.

Please note that due to space restrictions, it is not possible to take prams and pushchairs on board.

How to get to the St. Nicholas trip on the Nostalgia Tram in Gmunden in the Traunsee-Almtal region:

We recommend travelling by public transport!

By train: via Attnang-Puchheim station to Gmunden station. There are numerous connections from Attnang-Puchheim station to the main trains on the Westbahn line (line 101) or via Gmunden to the Salzkammergutbahn towards Bad Ischl, Hallstatt and Bad Aussee.

The tram journey starts at Gmunden station!

From Vorchdorf, take the Traunsee Tram (line 161) from Stern & Hafferl to the Gmunden Bahnhof or Gmunden Seebahnhof stop. The Nikolausfahrt also starts from there.

By bus: OÖVV bus lines, Gmunden Bahnhof stop

By car:

Westautobahn A1: Vienna - exit A1 Laakirchen West - via Laakirchen to Gmunden - Gmunden Ost - P&R Engelhof and continue with the Traunsee Tram
or to Gmunden station to the P&R car park

Westautobahn A1 motorway: Munich – Salzburg – A1 Regau exit – to Gmunden – Gmunden Zentrum exit – Gmunden railway station P&R car park or via Gmunden Ost to the P&R facility at Engelhof railway station.

Parking:
We recommend using the P&R facilities at Engelhof station and continuing with the Traunsee Tram to the Gmunden station or Gmunden Seebahnhof stop.

Or directly at Gmunden station, P&R car park.
