All questions about hiking in the Traunsee-Almtal region

Turn back and under no circumstances walk! In cooperation with the alpine clubs, the municipalities and the Austrian Federal Forests we maintain and care for a hiking trail network of about 200km. From time to time it can happen that due to natural events such as storms, thunderstorms, etc., hunting or forestry work, paths have to be closed temporarily and at short notice. In any case, there is danger to life when walking on a closed path! In case of possible injuries and thereby necessary rescue measures also existing insurances get out. We strive with our partners to keep closures as short as possible.

The Miesweg is a well-secured trail over wooden footbridges and on rocky paths directly along and over the lake under the Traunstein. Immediately at the first tunnel you reach the forest road again and past the snack station Moaristidl the starting point.

You can park at the Almsee, but parking is very limited and therefore it is recommended to take the Traunstein cab.
