The Windlegern is a lively inn, a village meeting point where you can meet a glass of beer or wine, where you can meet to find time to chat, a place where parties are celebrated.
We stand for traditional, down-to-earth pub kitchen. We cook according to traditional recipes, combine them with new ideas and try to transport them into today.
For us, quality and generosity are a prerequisite for the inn kitchen. With us nobody is allowed to go hungry! Eating should be fun without having to think too much about it. We cook with all our heart for you, for our guests.
We only cook beef from our own Galloway cattle, a primal cattle breed that spends all year in the pasture.
Our cattle can spend three years in complete freedom, eating only the finest alpine herbs and drinking pure spring water. In addition, this cattle husbandry keeps the larch pastures typical of the Attersee-Traunsee nature reserve.
Our Galloways have to grow three times as long as in conventional cattle farming. A difference that you can taste and that we are particularly proud of.
Specialties of deer and roe deer can be found on our menu almost all year round. We only get our game from the local hunters in the Traunsee-Almtal region.
It goes without saying that we use pork and chicken, vegetables, eggs and milk products from the nature park region as well as fresh fish from the Mühlbach valley or from the lake.
