The building of the Pettenbach Music School has a rich history: it was originally a moated castle that was mentioned in history as far back as the 13th century. The cross vault, the stitching caps and the 1 meter thick walls on the ground floor, as well as the lack of a cellar, tell from this time. For more than 100 years, the town hall of Pettenbach was housed in this building. The poet Käthe Klotz (wife of the community doctor Med. Rat. Dr. Hans Klotz, a relative of the famous South Tyrolean Georg Klotz) and worked on the 2nd floor.
