Gmunden's paddle association

Our rowing area – Lake Traunsee – 422.5 metres above the Adriatic Lake Traunsee lies on the northern border of the Salzkammergut; its long axis runs almost exactly north-south. It is difficult to say much about the town of Gmunden, situated at the northern end of the lake, without mentioning the lake itself, for it is the lake that makes Gmunden the ‘gateway to the Salzkammergut’. It is the lake itself, as a natural feature, that serves as a place of relaxation for holidaymakers and water sports enthusiasts, and acts as an indispensable regulator of the region’s climate. The River Traun, which flows through both Lake Hallstatt and Lake Traunsee and has a considerable gradient along its course, flows into the southern end of Lake Traunsee at Ebensee and leaves it at its northern end, right in the heart of the town of Gmunden. Would you like to take up rowing and become a member? All members of the rowing club are potential points of contact for anyone interested in finding out more about our wonderful sport. The basic requirements are, in all cases, the ability to swim and a minimum age of 12. Please bring sportswear to every rowing session.
