Natural ice surface Offensee

The Offensee is a nature reserve at the foot of the ‘Totes Gebirge’ mountain range. For a few weeks in the year, the water surface freezes and creates a natural ice surface. If the ice is deemed strong enough, you can go for a walk, ice skate or play curling. The left side of the lake is widely used for this because the shore area is somewhat flatter there, especially in the front area just behind the reed belt. Do always be careful when you step on the ice as there are numerous springs that create air pockets which can soften the ice in some places and make it thinner. The natural ice surface usually forms sometime between mid-January and mid-February.

Please note: Parking fees apply when using the parking spaces at Offensee.

Fee-based times:

Daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Minimum fee €1.00/60 min.; each additional hour €1.00/60 min.; daily rate €8.00
No charge for stays of less than 30 minutes!

Motorhomes are not permitted to park between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. (there are two motorhome parking spaces available in Ebensee).

The ticket machine nearby the toilets at Offensee (left side of the lake) accepts both cash and cashless payments. The ticket machine at the former Offensee restaurant (right side) only accepts cashless payments. In addition to these payment options, payment via Easypark is also possible. The parking ticket must be displayed visibly in the windscreen.
