Kleiner Ödsee

Grünau im Almtal, Oberösterreich, Österreich
  • Suitable for groups

roadblock: Akutmeldung/Sperre

Description: From 15.09. - 15.10. and from 1.11. - April 30th There is an absolute driving ban on the road to the two Ödseen lakes!
The Almtalerhaus is also closed at this time.

The Kleiner Ödsee, like its "big brother" just 150 metres away, lies in a side valley of the Almtal, the so-called "Hetzau". This natural jewel derives its extraordinary beauty from its impressive location on the northern slope of the Großer Priel.

Kleine Ödsee is characterised by its steeply sloping and densely wooded banks. However, another special feature of the almost 3.3-hectare body of water is that it has no visible inflows or outflows. The Kleine Ödsee is fed by springs that lie beneath the surface at the bottom of the lake. The outflow of water also takes place underground. Its water level fluctuates by up to one metre over the course of a year. The Kleiner Ödsee is accessible via a hiking trail, which then leads on to the Großer Ödsee.
