Gmunden State Music School

The music school has been located in Villa Klusemann, a classicist building, since 1992. The constantly increasing number of students and the need to keep pace with developments in education made it necessary to expand the premises for the music students in Gmunden.

Construction work on an extension began in autumn 2014 and was completed at Easter 2016. Generous glass surfaces and barrier-free access to the floors connect the villa with the new extension and create an open, inviting atmosphere. The new wing houses a medium-sized concert hall, a large room for dance, movement and early music education, a band and project room, an ensemble room, and a piano and percussion room.

The administration rooms are also integrated into a separate area. The linear, single-storey extension with a basement allows the villa to continue to dominate in terms of size and beauty.

The beautiful park is located between the villa and the extension and can be accessed directly from the concert hall.

The music school moved into its new premises in Easter 2016.

The extension offers SPACE for inspiration and the development of potential and encourages people to make music together and be creative.

Approximately 1,000 pupils and 48 teachers are enthusiastic about the new possibilities.

The Gmunden Music School is not only an educational institution that provides its students with basic musical training – early musical education, music garden, parent-child dance – playing an instrument – 30 different instruments – singing and visual arts, but also places special emphasis on personal development and critical reflection.

Young people with musical training become individuals with greater self-confidence, intercultural understanding and respect for others, the critical concert-goers of tomorrow and, in the best case scenario, internationally sought-after famous artists.

The expansion of the music school has now created the ideal conditions for this.

The teaching team looks forward to welcoming many motivated and creative pupils!
