A popular mountain hut offering overnight accommodation in the Totes Gebirge. This accommodation, run by the Ebensee Mountaineering Association, not only treats hungry and thirsty mountain lovers to food and drink, but also serves as a starting point for hikes of varying difficulty. Those wishing to discover a special natural gem should hike to the Wildensee. And those seeking a greater challenge can climb the Rinnerkogel, a peak over 2,000 metres high.
For the more fit, there is the strenuous plateau hike to the Hochkogelhütte or the north-south traverse via the Appel-Haus to the Grundlsee in the Ausseerland region.
The starting point is Offensee; from there, it takes about 3 hours to hike up to the hut.
20 dormitory beds. Open daily from 4 June to 13 September 2026. Open at weekends (from Friday to Sunday) from 18 September to 11 October 2026 IN GOOD WEATHER (rain- and snow-free onditions). Overnight stays by telephone booking and confirmation only.

Accessibility / arrivalPlease note the current parking fees at Offensee (see also https://www.ebensee.at/Gebuehrenpflichtiges_Parken):
The fee applies daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. For stays of less than 30 minutes, the fee is waived! Single-track vehicles are exempt from the fee.
Minimum fee: €1.50 per 60 minutes.
Each additional hour: €1.50 per 60 minutes.
Daily rate: €12.00
Please refer to the parking regulations posted on the signs. Failure to pay the fee will result in a €70 fine.
Camping and overnight stays between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. are prohibited on all sites! Violations will be punished with a €70 fine.
