Gegenzug auf der Traun - Pulling a ship upstream

On August 29, the boatmen's association will once again be organizing the traditional "Gegenzüge" on the Traun.

For the 4th time under the title "Nauffahrt und Schiffsgegentriebmittels mittels Pferdezug auf der Traun" as UNESCO intangible cultural heritage. We are very pleased to be able to live up to this honorable distinction again.

There is also the opportunity to take part in a boat trip.

The 10-man crew maneuvers the Trauner upstream to turn it around after a certain distance in the Naufahrt (trip downstream).

At the confluence of the Ager, the ship is turned around again and connected to the 4 horses via a 60 meter long rope. The horses then pull the Trauner back to the Salzstadln. Many thanks at this point for the support of HorseTrainingCenter Hellmayr.
