Let yourself be inspired as a passenger or spectator.
On 30 August, the boatmen's association will once again hold its traditional ‘Gegenzüge’ (counter-tows) on the Traun River.
For the third time, this event will be held under the title ‘Naufahrt und Schiffsgegentriebsmittel mittels Pferdezug auf der Traun’ (Downstream transport and counter-towing by horse-drawn boats on the Traun River) as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage event. We are delighted to once again live up to this honourable distinction in practice.
There is also the opportunity to take part in a trip on the ship.
The 10-man crew manoeuvres the Trauner upstream to turn it into the Naufahrt (downstream trip) after a certain distance.
At the confluence with the Ager, the ship is turned again to connect it to the four horses via a 60-metre-long rope. The horses then pull the Trauner back to the Salzstadln. We would like to take this opportunity to thank HorseTrainingCenter Hellmayr for their support.
Departure times are scheduled for 10/11/12/14/15 o'clock.
Secure your places on the Trauner.
You can register by calling 07245/28011-15. Any remaining places will be allocated on site.
There will also be a morning pint with music.
