Exhibition of Josef Linschinger at the Bartlhaus

‘WORD PICTURES PICTURE WORDS’

This summer, the renowned Austrian representative of Concrete Art, Josef Linschinger, celebrates his 80th birthday. It is a pleasure for the Schriftmuseum Bartlhaus to be able to present a selection of his works. Linschinger studied at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Linz, now the University of Art and Design, where he later taught as a lecturer and professor for over 25 years.

In addition to teaching and his artistic work, he organised the Symposia for Concrete Art in Gmunden twenty times, which established itself as an important networking platform in the field of concrete art and poetry and in the context of which works by 600 international artists were shown. Linschinger is also a member of the Linz artists' association MAERZ and was president of the Salzkammergut Artists' Guild for many years. He can look back on around 60 solo exhibitions and more than 500 participations in exhibitions in various countries. His work has been recognised with numerous prizes and awards, including the Cultural Medal of the Province of Upper Austria and the Upper Austrian Provincial Culture Prize for Fine Arts.
