In the footsteps of Josef Linschinger through the Salzkammergut

The Bartlhaus Museum of Literature and Local History and the Traunsee-Almtal Tourism Association inviting in cooperation with the Bad Ischl Tourist Office and the city of Gmunden, to the ‘Kulturroas Salzkammergut" tour to visit Josef Linschinger's sculptures in public spaces in the Salzkammergut region.

The Kulturroas programme:

The tour will be conducted in a modern coach! Ms Angelika Doppelbauer, curator of the Museum of Writing, will lead the tour and provide expert commentary on all of the sculptures.

9:45 a.m. Meeting point at the Bartlhaus Museum of Literature and Local History in Pettenbach

The tour begins at 10:00 a.m. with a visit to the WORTBILDER BILDWORTE exhibition at the Bartlhaus.

The journey continues to Gmunden, where shortly after 11:00 a.m. we will visit the 240 cm high artwork VOKALE from 1996 on the Esplanade. This was created as part of the 10 YEARS OF THE GMUNDNER SYMPOSION FOR CONCRETE ART to mark 1000 YEARS OF EASTERN AUSTRIA.

The next stop is in Altmünster at a park near the cemetery, where the sculpture TRINITÄT II from 2003/07 is located.

We have planned two stops in Traunkirchen, one at the Waldcampus Österreich with the sculpture WALD&WILD from 2024, which was also created as part of the European Capital of Culture Salzkammergut 2024 and is intended to symbolise the institute's teaching content.

After a short lunch break, we will visit the second sculpture in Traunkirchen, located in the monastery courtyard. ‘ECCE’ was created between 2012 and 2025 and is an intervention with five sculptures of interdenominational and secular content.

The tour continues to Ebensee, where the sculpture ‘TRIAS’, also created in 2024, stands at the entrance to the industrial park. The opening of the industrial park symbolises three aspects, including NATURE, ECONOMY and CULTURE.

At around 2.30 p.m., we arrive in Bad Ischl, where the sculpture ‘EUROPE CUBE’ from 2025 stands at the roundabout near the railway station and the Eurothermen Resort. In memory of the Salzkammergut 2024 Capital of Culture, donated by the Bad Ischl Cultural Platform.

After a leisurely coffee break, the tour returns to its starting point at the Bartlhaus in Pettenbach.
