Opening Lakebase Traunsee

Test and experience 3 days of water sports

From 1 to 3 May 2026, the Lakebase Traunsee will open in Rindbach near Ebensee - a meeting place (newly taken over) for all those who love water, wind and exercise. For three days, there will be testing, trying out, learning and celebrating. If you want to experience water sports in a different way, this is the place for you.

Testing instead of watching

The opening is not a classic demo day, but a weekend of experiences for beginners, advanced riders and curious spectators. The motto: try it out instead of just watching. Visitors can test the latest equipment free of charge and get to know different types of water sports:

• Wingfoiling
• pump foiling
• windsurfing
• Stand-up paddling (SUP)

International brands such as JP Australia, Neilpryde, Starboard and ENSIS will be there, and their boards and wings can be tried out right by the lake. Anyone who wants to can also take part in workshops - such as pump foil training or windsurfing sessions with coaches.

Three days of water, wind and community

The opening weekend combines sport with a relaxed lakeside atmosphere. The highlights include

• free equipment tests
• Workshops for beginners and advanced riders
• Raffle with high-quality water sports prizes
• Red Bull Event Car with DJ (Friday)
• Sunset drinks and a chilled lake atmosphere
• Children's program with bouncy castle and face painting
  
  

During the day, the focus is on the water - in the evening, we celebrate together on the lakeshore.

A new meeting place for water sports in the Salzkammergut

The Lakebase is intended to be more than just an event location. It is intended to be a permanent platform for water sports, community and innovation. With around 250 to 300 visitors per day, the opening expects a sports and lifestyle-oriented audience - from families and weekend guests to international water sports fans. This will make Lake Traunsee even more of a hotspot for active outdoor experiences in Upper Austria.

Behind the Lakebase: the SUP & Wing Box

The project is organized by Doris and Rainer Schmid, the founders of the SUP & Wing Box. They have been offering water sports camps, courses and events in the Salzkammergut region since 2012 - including at Lake Fuschl, Lake Mondsee and Lake Attersee. With the new Lakebase on Lake Traunsee, another place is now being created where water sports can be experienced, accessed and shared.
