Austria's Horse Breeding Industry Showcases Its Best: AWÖ National Championship in Stadl-Paura

Championship Gala and Foal Auction on September 19—this year’s auction lineup is already online

From September 18 to 20, 2026, the Stadl-Paura Equestrian Center will once again become the hub of Austrian warmblood breeding. The AWÖ National Championship will showcase the country’s best young horses, followed by a special highlight of the weekend on Saturday evening: the Championship Gala and the AWÖ Foal Auction.

For three days, Stadl-Paura will be all about Austrian horse breeding. The AWÖ National Championship serves as a showcase for the quality and performance of domestic breeding and brings together breeders, riders, owners, and horse enthusiasts from all over Austria.

The focus is on the promising young horses of Austrian warmblood breeding, who will compete in various championship classes to demonstrate their athletic and breeding qualities. It’s not just about coveted titles and sashes, but also about showcasing the horses that are expected to make a name for themselves in the sport in the future.

Championship Gala as the Highlight on Saturday Evening
A special highlight of the weekend will take place on Saturday, September 19. During the Championship Gala, successful horses and memorable moments in Austrian horse breeding will be in the spotlight.
Doors open for the gala at 6:30 p.m., and the event begins at 7:00 p.m.
In a festive setting, the Championship Gala brings together breeding, sport, and emotion, providing a grand stage for the weekend’s champions. At the same time, attention is already turning to the next generation of Austrian sport horses.
Auction Collection Already Online
The AWÖ 2026 Foal Auction will also take place as part of the Championship Gala. The selected Austrian Warmblood foals combine interesting pedigrees, successful maternal lines, and, in many cases, already award-winning quality.
This year’s auction collection is already online and can be viewed now at www.fohlenauktion.at. Interested buyers can find detailed information there about the individual foals, their pedigrees, and their families, as well as view photos and videos.
The National Championship itself adds an extra element of excitement: Qualified finalists still have the opportunity to be added to the auction collection at the last minute. This means the lot list can continue to expand right up until the auction begins.
The auction will be held as an in-person event at the Stadl-Paura Equestrian Center. Additionally, bidders can participate online via ClipMyHorse.TV or by phone. This allows international buyers to take part in the auction as well.
The starting bid is 4,000 euros per foal. Prior registration is required for online bidding.
A Weekend Dedicated to Austrian Horse Breeding
The AWÖ National Championship is one of the key highlights of the Austrian breeding calendar. It not only offers an overview of the current quality of domestic young horses but also combines competitive show jumping, breeding, marketing, and shared celebrations.
