Reading with Music: "The Conscience of the Doves"

The Austrian musician, writer, author, and screenwriter will read from his book *Das Gewissen der Tauben* (The Conscience of the Doves). Inspired by his own family history, Bilgeri tells of the hostility between the Nazis and their opponents. All the quotes that appear in this drama about a Viennese family are taken from Bilgeri’s father’s diary.

You’ll also see excerpts from the film *Der Atem des Himmels* (The Breath of Heaven). In 1953, an avalanche destroyed the village of Blond in Vorarlberg. The film tells the dramatic story of a love affair. And there will also be songs from the Great American Songbook.
