Reservations are strongly recommended! Admission is free.

“Lili in Purple”—A Love of Literature in the Purple Literature Cave is the name of the new event series at the Gmunden Public Library.

Renowned Austrian authors will present their latest novels: there will be listening, moderation, discussion, and in-depth analysis:

Tonight’s guest: Katherina Braschel with “Heim holen”:

Lina, a child of the 1990s, grew up in a world that seems to have fallen out of time: in a Danube Swabian community that settled in Salzburg after being expelled and fleeing, and continued its traditional way of life there after 1945. When Lina learns one evening that her grandfather was a member of the SS, she begins to search for answers beyond the dominant narrative of victimhood. Torn between her love for her deceased grandparents and her own growing political awareness, she decides to break the silence for the first time. Supported by her close friends, Lina confronts her family history and embarks on a journey of discovery that will take her all the way to Belgrade. When she finally seeks a confrontation with her mother, it becomes a trial by fire …

Journalist Melanie Jungwirth (LESEZEICHEN – The Literature Magazine on salzi.tv) will once again moderate the evening.
