Concert: Altamira Christmas Favorites

Christmas Classics Meet Jazz and Improvisation

Christmas in a New Sweater

Christmas classics meet jazz and improvisation: The ALTAMIRA Trio—featuring Mathias Mayrbäurl (saxophone), Angela Stummer-Stempkowski (harp), and Josef Wagner (bass)—presents an extraordinary program titled “Christmas Favorites.”

Well-known Christmas carols have been rearranged and developed into surprising soundscapes, with plenty of room for improvisation. Familiar melodies meet the unusual combination of saxophone, harp, and bass—sometimes atmospheric and contemplative, sometimes rhythmic, but always brimming with the joy of chamber music.

The album of the same name, “Christmas Favorites,” invites you to enjoy ALTAMIRA at home on limited-edition vinyl or via streaming.
