Just in time for the International Pottery Market in Gmunden, we welcome ceramic artist Sabine Werkner.
The guiding principle behind Sabine Werkner’s work is the concept of “wabi-sabi.” This involves engaging with the transient, the imperfect, and the irreproducible. She brings this to life through the carefully controlled interplay of material and design with the elements of fire and heat. Her ceramics are all hand-built (without a potter’s wheel) and some are fired in a salt kiln or anagama kiln. www.wabisabine.at

Angela Wechner has titled her exhibition “Put a smell on you.” In it, she examines contemporary society. “What happens when physical closeness is lost?” How important is the space in between—a scent, a sound, a breath—as a connecting element? Through fleeting fragments of everyday and travel memories, she sketches these subtle signals in process-oriented, almost unfinished-looking images—as an expression of vitality, movement, and transience. www.facebook.com/angela.wechner
