With their unmistakable blend of post-punk, glam rock, sharp wit, and uncompromising energy, The Nightingales are now coming to Germany and Austria for select dates in support of their new album, *The Awful Truth*. The Nightingales return with *The Awful Truth*, their first album since 2022’s *The Last Laugh*, proving once again that Robert Lloyd and company remain as sharp, unpredictable, and essential as ever.

The Nightingales rose from the ashes of the “Prefects,” who once played on the “White Riot Tour” with The Clash. Described by journalist and author John Robb as “the outsiders among outsiders,” the band became a cult sensation in the 1980s and was celebrated early on by BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel. Since their reunion in 2004, the Nightingales have been more productive than ever. In 2019, the acclaimed documentary *King Rocker*, written and presented by comedian Stewart Lee, was released.

Released on Fire Records, the album is a tangled, exhilarating mix of post-punk urgency, surrealist storytelling, and quirky pop sensibilities—an acerbic, sideways glance at modern life delivered with Lloyd’s unmistakable growl. As ever, The Nightingales feel like a band operating entirely on their own terms, drawing from an eccentric blend of influences while sounding like no one but themselves.

Twenty years after The Seesaw’s debut, Stootsie’s first solo album, *Running Around*, was released in November 2011 to critical acclaim.
In 2019, after a long hiatus, he returned as a solo artist with “Riverside Tales,” a handful of pop gems that more than made up for the long wait.
