‘Let's go, Salzkammergut!’

Model Region for rural Europe

An interdisciplinary team is forming again in 2025 to build the successor organisation to the European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024 GmbH together with the region, the federal government and the provinces of Upper Austria and Styria.

The legacy of the European Capital of Culture will be carried into the future and the long-term cultural development strategy Kulturvision 2030 of the three LEADER regions REGIS, Traunsteinregion and Ausseerland will be implemented under the title ‘Aufbruch, Salzkammergut!’.

Otelo eGen, based in Vorchdorf, is supporting the ‘Aufbruch, Salzkammergut!’ project in the first phase of establishing a successor organisation to the European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024.

From 12 September to 3 November 2024, the walk-in woodpassage was on display at the beautiful Almsee lake. The wooden sculpture not only served as an eye-catcher, but also as an event venue and popular photo motif.

The Kasberg - a ski area for all requirements

The Kasberg is the centrepiece of the winter offer in Grünau im Almtal. With its perfectly groomed pistes, the ski area offers ideal conditions for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. Beginners can take their first turns in the ski school, while advanced skiers and pros can refine their technique on the more challenging slopes. For younger guests, there is Bruno's children's ski arena and ski courses that playfully introduce youngsters to winter sports.

But the Kasberg has even more to offer: Away from the pistes, you can explore the snow-covered landscape on the numerous winter hiking trails or enjoy the tranquillity of nature on a leisurely snowshoe hike. Cross-country skiers also get their money's worth on the well-groomed trails.
