Ödseen Lakes - nature preserve area

Grünau im Almtal, Oberösterreich, Österreich
  • pets allowed
  • Suitable for groups

The Ödseen are natural lakes in a breathtaking landscape with a view of the Dead Mountains. In the summer from May 1st to September 15th there is the possibility to go by bike or car to the Almtalerhaus.

Right by the inn "Gasthof Jagersimmerl", turn left into the beautiful, idyllic Hetzau valley, where the two lakes are also located. These two romantic natural lakes are regarded as popular hiking and excursion destinations. Please note that the two lakes are an absolute nature reserve and are privately owned.

The access by bike or car (buses excluded) is possible to the Almtalerhaus inn (15 km from the village center) from 1st of May till 15th of September. After a leisurely short hike you will first reach the small and then the big Ödsee (circular hike).

Please only park in the designated parking spaces and do not block driveways to forest roads, as forestry work and timber transport take place here.

Thank you for your understanding!

01st May till 14th September and 16th till 31st October, the Hetzau street is open!

15th September till 15th October, road closed due to hunting season - only walking possible

01st November till 30th April, closed due wintertime, time for the nature to recover!
