The special thing about it is that the concept of enjoyment and history is in the foreground alongside the sporting aspect, and the region boasts scenic attractions that make cycling an unmistakable experience.
The route around Lake Traunsee also leads past 4 smaller lakes, a stalactite cave, the notorious Gmundner Ceramics Factory and magnificent vantage points (e.g. Gmundnerberg or Grünberg).
Furthermore, through nature reserves, to hospitable inns and accommodation, or for the more daring on a downhill route from the almost 1,600 metre high Feuerkogel almost 6 kilometres into the valley.
A detour into the Almtal valley to the Almsee lake and back via the Offensee lake to the Traunsee lake is definitely worthwhile.
