Weinstube Spies- the restaurant in the heart of Gmundner Old Town

Welcome to the wine tavern Spies!

Clock-like and genuinely convivial Weistube in the centre of Gmunden. Located in the middle of Gmunden in Kirchengasse, the Spies exudes quaintness, but also grandiose enjoyment - a total culinary experience! See for yourself and visit this traditional restaurant in the heart of Gmunden!

The history

The traditional house in Kirchengasse was run for a hundred years as a wine trading house by the Spiesberger family and passed into the ownership of the Ötzlinger family in 1987. The interior, such as the restaurant from 1930, has been preserved in its original form and has retained its rustic charm. The ceramic relief "Die Traubenträger" by Emilie Schleiß still adorns the wall of the house.

The kitchen

Son Peter Ötzlinger is in the kitchen. The chef completed his apprenticeship at the Blaue Gans in Salzburg and creates a successful mix of traditional and modern dishes. The focus is on homemade dishes, local game from the wild and fresh fish from Lake Traun. The Wiener Schnitzel of pork (from the Gmundner butcher) is considered the best in town by locals!
